MAY 2012

What a great month…busy..and a lot of visiting and going a lot of places with Trina!  Plus, the usual HOT weather was seemingly on and off, so some wonderful weather to celebrate too!

We had Mother’s Day in May…Graduation celebrations….visits from friends….lots of outdoor activities and so much more.  And, since our “helper” Merilee was out of town most of the month – we simply enjoyed taking Trina everywhere with us.  Merilee helps out about 10 hours a week in case we need a “date” or just to do errands together but this month she had very little hours.  It was actually awesome to be able to give Trina the extra stimulus.  Since we started her on a drug called Aricept – Trina smiles and laughs so much and she is such a joy that she blesses everyone she encounters.  No one can tell, until they get up close and personal, that she is not cognitive as her facial expressions are so full of life.  This keeps the Door of Hope open for us all though that one day she might KNOW fully what is going on around her.  For now, we just LOVE her.

Also, Mom has needed to start working more and the blessings have come that I am busy again.  I have to thank my husband and God that I have been able to shuffle all of the appointments in and around Trina’s care.  It takes intense discipline, but it also feels good to be helping out seniors.  I do CARE about helping them beyond just a Reverse Mortgage as many are in deep need.

With our friends Rosie and Raul visiting from Imperial Beach (we met them when we were down at Trina’s hospital for one year) we went to Mt. Shasta to the snow, to Fowler’s waterfalls and Shasta Caverns…and the first 2 events we took Trina.  So fun.  Of course, the caverns are not set up for a wheelchair!  Then, there was the Strawberry Festival and Trina got to have some ice cream.  She still is on a feeding tube for 90% of her calories but the other 10% is usually yogurt or ice cream occassionally (smooth stuff)…
